Episode Guide

In Progress

Summary: Rebecca, a kindergarten teacher, collapses in front of her students and is taken to Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. There, we meet Dr. Gregory House, a brilliant diagnostician who hates seeing patients, and who works on the mantra, "Everybody lies." We also meet his three young team members: Dr. Allison Cameron (immunologist), Dr. Robert Chase (intensivist), and Dr. Eric Foreman (neurologist). In the end, they discover that Rebecca's ailment is caused by a tapeworm in her brain, and she is cured.

Also in this episode: House is forced by the Dean of Medicine, Dr. Lisa Cuddy, to resume rotations in the hospital clinic. And we meet Dr. James Wilson, an oncologist and House's only friend, who persuades House to take Rebecca's case by lying that Rebecca was his "cousin."

Memorable moments, quotes: Wilson grabbing House's cane to stop him in the hallway (uncut pilot episode)

"Well, like the philosopher Jagger once said, 'You can’t always get what you want.'"

"Because I’m a doctor. Because when we make mistakes people die."

"Yes, he cares about me."

"You can live with dignity, we can’t die with it."

"People choose the paths that grant them the greatest rewards for the least amount of effort. That’s the law of nature, and you defied it. That’s why I hired you."

"I NEVER lie."
